What Is An Holographic Effect?

In simple terms, a hologram effect is a photograph of light that’s scattered from an object and arranged in a three-dimensional way. The result is an iridescent, fluid-like effect with a futuristic vibe that never fails to catch the eye.

The holographic can be quite hypnotizing; when printed on vinyl materials—which is the case for moths of these designs—the rainbow effect seems to change colors when seen from different angles.

You have probably seen this effect before; if not on web design or stickers – where this effect is most popular – you may remember the rainbow-like holographic from the back of credit cards. Another example is the shimmering sticker when you buy a new phone. The holographic effect has been around for a while, and it has served different purposes.

Now, holographic logo design is increasingly becoming one of the 2024 logo trends. By different color combinations in a gradient style and with a glimmety touch, this effect promises to bring all its usual benefits, including making your logos stand out, grab your audience’s attention, and leave a memorable impression.

How To Create A Holographic Logo Design

Creating holographic logo designs is relatively easy, especially if you are proficient in using image editing tools.

Through a rainbow palette, you can give your logo design a unique shimmer that makes it stand out from the crowd. As long as you carefully select the color palette to match the brand identity, you will have a memorable trademark.

You can use different tools to create holographic logos. In this opportunity, I will show you how to design your first holographic effect using Figma, the editor software my Los Angeles web design agency uses to create high quality holographic logos for our clients.

Create A Mesmerizing Holographic Logo With Figma

Figma is an excellent tool to give your business logos a shimmering gradient graphic design effect. Follow these easy steps to create your own:

Step 1: I’d advise that before you start working on the holographic effect, you define the color palette you will use for this project. That will save you time and streamline the process. Another trip is to opt for bright, alive colors that enhance the shimmering appearance of your logo design.

Step 2: Once you pick the palette, head to Figma and create an ellipse with a gradient fill. If you don’t have your colors yet or are just testing the effect, you can use this color palette:

  • #9FF8D9
  • #FAFDC5
  • #A4E5FF
  • #D591FF
  • #FFA3F9

Step 3: Now, you will add an additional gradient to your current one. Head to the Fill section, click on the”+,” and change the fill type to Angular. Next, alternate black and white on the color line.

Set the blending mode on “Difference” for the angular gradient you just added.

Step 4: Duplicate the object, leaving only the angular fill.

Change the gradient blending mode for the copy to Screen. Then, group the layers with Ctrl + G.

Step 5: You made the holographic effect! Now you can keep improving it by adding texture with the “Overlay” feature – set the texture transparency to 30%-50%.

Step 6: The final step is using your rainbow colors holographic effect on your logo design to give it a distinctive touch.

Advantages of Creating A Holographic Logo For Your Brand

Rainbow colors holographic effect

Holographic logo designs look good, but they bring more to the plate than a stunning aesthetic. This style is becoming a rising logo trend because of the multiple benefits it presents to a business’ branding. Let’s explore a few.

Holographic Colors Have A Powerful Eye-Catching Effect

Have you ever noticed what happens when you spot a rainbow after the rain? Most people can’t help but look at it, and it is often difficult to stop staring. A holographic gradient logo has the exact same effect.

Holographic colors are incredibly eye-catching; they seize users’ attention and encourage them to explore the logo further. What’s more, viewers are more likely to feel drawn to learn more about your brand and its products or services if they find your logo enticing and captivating.

Use a holographic logo if you are looking to draw people to your business website or social media channels, create brand awareness, and grow your client base.

Leave A Long-Lasting Impression On Your Audience

The shimmering changing colors of a holographic logo “hypnotize” viewers and keep them exploring the design. Due to that, holographic logos are more likely to leave a lasting impression on users compared to regular, on-color designs.

To ensure you get that effect and create a memorable business logo, you must let the holographic effect be the star. What does that mean? Go easy with the rest of your logo design elements. If, on top of the gradient effect, you fill the logo with complex typography, shapes, or icons, it can create clutter. That can confuse and distract viewers, creating the opposite effect you are aiming at.

A best practice when it comes to logo design is that simplicity is key. Give your holographic colorful artwork room to breathe, shine, and do its magic.

Give Your Brand An Innovative and Futuristic Vibe

Your logo is your business’s number one emblem; it must communicate your brand image and essence in the most thorough way.

You have several logo design styles you can use; the one you choose will mostly depend on your brand’s identity. If you want your audience and potential customers to associate your business with creativity and innovation, the holographic logo trend is the right one for you.

Do you use a futuristic graphic design approach for the rest of your branding strategy? A holographic logo design will put a bow on your overall branding by giving it the ultimate futuristic and modern vibe you seek.

The Holographic Logo Trend Is Highly Customizable

When designing a professional business logo, always strive for customization instead of pre-made, one-size-fits-all templates.

Highly customizable logos enable brands to better display their identity and communicate their unique values. Besides, by creating a logo from scratch, you can customize it to be responsive to different media—digital and print—and ensure scalability.

With a holographic logo, which you can create from zero, you have full customization control over all the design elements.

Final Thoughts

Holographic designs have been around for decades, and unlike most design trends, this effect has purely digital roots. Today, they represent a union between the past and the future. Use this effect wisely to make your logos more memorable and give them a futuristic edge.

Remember to prioritize your brand identity and give the holographic effect room to breathe, and you will have a dazzling logo that entices users to learn more about your brand.
